The games of the Elder Scrolls series from Bethesda Softworks are well-known for their wide range of pop culture references, obscure Easter eggs, and cleverly hidden details. And from the humble beginnings of The Elder Scrolls: Arena to the latter-day multiplayer environments of The Elder Scrolls Online , these titles haven't shied away from mature themes and content. These games each have their darker sides, including the handful of salacious story fragments and adult insinuations that lurk beneath the surface of gameplay and narrative, true to Bethesda form. With that devious spirit in mind, we're taking a quick look at a few things in the Elder Scrolls series you only notice as an adult. And don't say we didn't warn you! A Morrowind modder has been working on removing and altering various scenarios that involve sexual harassment aimed at characters within the game to allow past victims of abuse to enjoy the RPG. The gaming industry has been flooded with new sexual abuse and harassment cases every day as companies attempt to abolish these unacceptable actions. Gameplay is also being considered as a potential source of enabling this behavior where victims of abuse may turn to for escapism. The modder attempts to change various dialogues that include sexual violence towards the player and rename inappropriately named items while reducing some of the aggressive language. Some examples include renaming the Scroll of Manarape to the Scroll of Manaleech and Crassius Curio no longer asks for sexual favors nor are there any consequences for refusing.

There is violence of all sorts in the open-world RPG, including threats of a sexual nature. That content can be especially upsetting to some gamers with a history of sexual abuse or sensitivity to the topic — people who just want to play without being forced to relive jarring memories. As a remedy, a gamer that goes by the name JaceyS created a Morrowind mod to make the title more accessible to gamers who might be affected by some of its more disturbing content. The idea of the mod, dubbed the Sexual Harassment Remover SHR , is to "remove and replace several instances of sexual harassment aimed at the player character," JaceyS notes.
